  Another season has come to an end for the Orlando Magic, and hopes for a playoffs are now a distant memory.  What the team has to look forward to, however, is bleak at best. 
  
  Yes, they secured what many may argue is the best scoring big man in the league in DeMarcus Cousins, a viable scoring threat in Khris Middleton and some young, raw talent.  But, many in the league argue that what the team lacks in future assets will ruin the team in the near future.  Is all hope gone?  In the short term, maybe not as bad as the long term.  But, even that is worthy of many sleepless nights for general manager L J Maverick.

  The offseason will most likely have to bring more trade talks for the team to net back some assets.  And, of course, this may mean one or more valuable assets on the team now will most likely have to be moved.  Rebuilding was not the expectation for the team once touted to be a division champion lock, but this road may have to be traveled. With no draft assets and a cash poor system for free agents, L J Maverick's phones better be set and ready with many of his colleagues' numbers on speed dial.

  What's more, the team may be looking for a new head coach as sources unbeknownst to anyone have indicated Frank Vogel may be on the move.  His philosophies and playbooks were the only thing that kept the team afloat even while being decimated by key injuries that derailed the season early on.  The team would do well trying to keep Vogel as he is the type of coach that could embrace such a challenge as the team has for this next season.

  The team will also do all it can do to ensure DeMarcus Cousins was not a one season rental in finding ways to keep the bigman under contract after next season.  This is top priority as common sense would dictate.  While the future in the sense of assets looks grim, the team is still hopeful that the team they have now with a few tweaks here and there will be at least fighting for a lower playoff seed next season.  Stay tuned.
