Four close calls, but four wins

It had been a while since the Knicks have swept a week. But week 17 posed a good chance, with the schedule softening up and the team at full strength, with Lance Stephenson the final piece to join the second unit.

And while things didn't quite go as smooth as the front-office had hoped, New York finally got its four wins. There were plenty of thrills along the way, but it made for some intense minutes following the streams.

Paul Millsap, re-inserted into the starting five, led the way with 25/11, including two 30-point games, but somehow was the only starter with a negative +/-.

Now the Knicks are hoping to engage the streaking Cavs and weekend warrior Bucks in a battle for the second seed, as they try to avoid a first-round matchup with Boston or Brooklyn.

The Knicks have been bounced by a Durant-led team in the first round as a higher seed before.
They certainly dont want any part of that. And Kevin Love's outside shooting is just as fearsome, as New York has proven to be vulerable to shooting big men as well. But he Cavs likely have loftier goals, trying to catch the league-leading Sixers. If that happens, there likely is no chance for New York to get as high as they would like.

Whichever way things go, Lance Stephenson is unlikely to be part of it. He re-aggravated his ankle injury and since the NBA Timberwolves let him go, his chances of making another appearance this season are next to nil. But the NLL Knicks will keep him around, not wanting to make the mistake of dumping him twice.

The team's other ten-day player, Briante Weber, is poised take Lance's minutes next week and will to sign a multi-year deal, likely with a team option for next season.

Meanwhile newcomer Nenê will sit out next week to rest his old bones, but the team actually lucked out it is only him, as both Millsap and Irving sat out their saturday NBA games. There is still Bobby Portis to take the brazilian's spot, so there shouldnt be a huge drop-off.

Next week New York will face two playoff bound teams. One, a possible playoff opponent in Brooklyn, and two the Golden State Warriors. Week 19 will then see them play four lottery teams.
