Welcome to the team Luis Scola

Lous Scola has been a bit of a journey man in the NLL. The 36 year old has played for 7 different teams, before joining the 76ers for a 7 seasons. He opted for free agency over the offseason, deciding to join the Portland trailblazers,

This season, Scola has been one of the bright spots for the Blazers. The thing that caught Cleveland’s eye was his stats in the second unit.

As a starter, Scola fills the stats well averaging a double. This gives the Cavs another option in if in the unlikely case that Ibaka gets injured.

As a Substitute, Scola comes into his own, averaging almost the same amount of points as a starter. He is an exceptional rebounder, should really offer the spark off the bench that Cleveland needs.

A thing of interest is Scola’s 3 point shooting. He has a 81 rating, which is only slightly lower than Ibaka at 82. Ibaka has been breaking out for the Cavs this year, hitting 53% based on a quality playbook. Something that wasn’t really recognised was the vast improvement from behind the arc of Amir Johnson.  Amir shot at 17% for Orlando in 41 games, for the Cav’s in his short spell of 17 games, he shot at an incredible 47%.

With the correct rotations and playbook, Scola could give the Cavs the perfect substitute, giving them the offensive spark they have been missing.

PK, can you give a quick quote on bringing in Lous Scola

Scola is the perfect addition to the Cavs rotation. Amir was incredible for us in his short time, so it was a very hard decision. I think we were short on an offensive spark, finding that our Starters were winning most contests, and the Bench was giving the lead straight back. Currently we don’t have any players in our second unit averaging 10ppg or over, I am predicting Lous beats that trend, averaging over 10 ppg and 6 rebounds.

Welcome Lous Scola, we look forward to seeing you in a Cavs jersey.
