It has been a while between news articles for the Spurs, 993.4 hours to be exact, but the team hasn't had a shortage of news-worthy items to discuss.
The last few weeks have seen the team playing a revolving door of big men through the Center and Power Forward positions as someone returns from an injury only for another guy to go down. Throughout the season the team has been constantly tinkering behind the scenes with the way the team plays changing weekly, something the brass has been hesitant to do in the past. Having some knowledge of what works and what doesn't bodes well for the rest of the season.
Joel Embiid remains out as the team has been quiet about his supposed injury, with any luck we will see him back on the court before the end of the season, but at this point it would surprise no one if he was to be left on the sidelines until next season.
Today the Spurs pulled off a small deal with the Phoenix Suns, break out SG Tim Hardaway was sent along with Spencer Dinwiddie to the Suns for sharpshooter CJ Miles. Miles brings outside shooting that the Spurs lack to the bench. He can play minutes at the 2 and 3 so that also helps the team with flexibility going forward, rumors of the Spurs front office being concerned about the big contract Hardaway was likely to get in the coming off-season have also surfaced but was refuted by the team.
Anthony Davis has continued to lead the team to wins, despite a recent cool patch that has bought the team back to the pack, the most important thing right now is getting the guys healthy for what is becoming an increasingly likely playoff appearance.
The roster currently stands at 14 and it is likely the team will take a wait and see approach with some 10 day contracts that might come up in the near future.
