Magical Changes

As with anything new, there will always be growing pains or the feeling of adjustment.  This happens to be the case in the Magic Kingdom through two weeks of the new NLL season.

The team sits at 6-3 good enough for a 5th place playoff seeding.  The experts predicted a better showing for the Magic in the pre-season.  GM L J maverick took over the reigns theis offseason and did what he was known to do in Minnesota, make a blockbuster-type deal.  He sent oft-injured Brook Lopez to his old team in a three-way deal that netted him three serviceable bench players and much needed draft picks.  "This team's future looked bleak to me," expressed the maverick general manager.  "I had already gone down that road with Brook before.  I know how it ends."  When asked if that was a shot to the product of Stanford University, the general manager stated, "No.  Not by any means.  He is one of my favorite players to watch.  But I knew he would net me a good haul.  Plus, we drafted a kid named Pascal in case you haven't noticed."

Pascal Siakam was drafted by the team in the second round this past offseason.  He had started the first eight games for the squad in the place of the aforementioned Lopez but was soon realized that his potential could only realistically be at the power forward position for now.  An immense talent, Siakam has already raised intrigue in Orlando.

Head coach, Frank Vogel, has already sang his praises for the talented big man out of New Mexico State.  "He is exactly what we needed here.  And, fortunately, he comes at a very cheap price for us and the coming years.  Nowadays, you need that sort of luck to fall in your lap."  This was definitely the case with Siakam.

This week has the Magic going against a very formidable set of opponents in Atlanta, Dallas and Cleveland twice.  A rough road and testy waters are in the foreseeable future.
