MAVERICKS NEWS

With the Free Agency period only just around the corner, The Dallas Mavericks know that they won’t be making a big splash when the time comes. “We currently have 12 players under contract, Ray McCallum will most likely be back, and we have two rookies in Zubac and Zipser who we are in talks with now for multiple year deals.” Smokey said. So if the Mavericks won’t be big players in Free Agency, then what are the plans for this franchise to improve on last season?

The rumours haven’t been kept quiet that the Mavericks will look at deals for Jrue Holiday. “Both Jrue and the Mavericks are on the same page when it comes to his future.” Smokey said. “If he stays then everyone is happy, if he gets another opportunity elsewhere then everyone’s a winner.” It makes sense that the Mavericks are looking for deals for Jrue, With Mudiay more than likely the starting point guard of the future, both parties will benefit.

Danny Green is another name that has been thrown up in conversation too. Green has been a solid contributor for the Mavericks since arriving in the 2011/2012 season. The talks of a package of Holiday and Green have been intensifying which have a few fans upset. “We don’t want to see Green go, he is a key to our defence when he is on the court.” One fan said.

The Mavericks are in a great position. They have plenty of options heading into next season. If the team was to remain the same, then they know they will be very competitive. On the flip side, if things were to change, they know they can get in some decent players to replace whatever heads out the door. Rumour has it that talks are heating up to make room to resign Nowitzki, “Our organization is bigger than one individual. Whichever way we go we will be happy with the decisions we make. We would love to have Dirk remain in Dallas, but we need to move forward as a franchise and make our team as good as we can while our championship window remains open.” Smokey said.

Whatever happens, The Mavericks have made it clear that they intend on making some changes, and are always willing to make the right choice to get better for the coming season.
