Klay Unleashed.

Klay Thompson has seen steady improvement in production over his short five year NLL career. In his second year in Sacramento since the big move to bring in himself and fellow running mate Mike Conley; Klay finished the season strong, with career highs in assists and steals. There's never been a doubt about his abilities on the offensive end, but the question remained that wether he was the kind of player to elevate this team and become the true face of the franchise.

With Conley out for the close out weeks of the season Klay went on a tear, a regular on the top player of the week lists. He led the Kings to close out and just scrape into the top 8 with stellar performances against quality opponents. They drew the defending champs in the first round and put up a valiant effort, Klay had his best post season yet statistically with averages of 26.5 PPG, 3.7 APG while being very efficient from long range. It wasn't enough in the end of course, even after scaring the champs into taking the Kings seriously stealing the first two games on their home court... What followed was the dismantling of a depleted and inconsistent Kings team that everyone expected.

Looking forward to next season there's a few big names still to sign. Conley being the obvious one who has told media on many occasions that he plans to stay in Sacramento but will be looking for a max deal. The other being up and coming guard Jordan Clarkson, who by all reports will most likely find his home here being a restricted free agent. The Kings head office are all in on Dwight Powell after making a move for him during last season, will Miles Plumlee still find himself in a Kings uniform by opening tip off? The one constant however is All-Stars Klay and Kevin Love and veteran big man Andrew Bogut.

Klay was asked by the media on the wind up towards training camp what he thought about trade rumours circulating around a move involving good friend and team mate Kevin Love. Love has spent his whole career with the Kings so far, but it has been well documented about his lack lustre year and playoff flop.

"Me and Kev have been in constant talks about how and where we see this team going forward, we're both fully invested. I'm sure he's not focusing on any of those trade talks right now and nether am I. I have to step up this season and we all want to show that we belong in terms of true contenders coming out of the west."

The reality is that with so much money going towards keeping the integral core together along with so many expiring contracts; A move of sorts will have to be made. K-Love seems to be the odd man out and if he does find a home else where, Klay will have full reign to show what he's really made of next year.
