Power Ranking - Feeling the waters.

Nov, 17 (Week 1) - The first couple of weeks of a season is always a feeler period. Teams will get to know their strengths and weaknesses, and will adjust pretty quickly. Good to see some teams exceeding expectations, but If I was a betting man, I would bet that things will change pretty quickly. ENJOY! [smokey]

Rank Rating Team Record Comment
1 (19) 34 Orl Orlando Magic 4-0
Bos 112, Orl 105 L
Atl 93, Orl 80 L
OKC 101, Orl 84 L
Mil 124, Orl 76 L
It seems weird to start with the bottom ranked teams in the power rankings.... Oh wait a minute, Just like most others I never pegged the magic to have this type of start to the year. 4-0, and the only team in the league that went undefeated! Javi must know something about the new engine and what type of team to build to get the Wins. Well done Javi, and keep up the good work for the remainder of the season.
2 (5) 31 Cle Cleveland Cavaliers 3-1
Cle 81, Mem 100 L
Cle 114, Utah 116 L
Cle 88, Ind 116 L
Cle 93, Mia 71 W
With not many options for the starting point (except Andrew Harrison) Bron took over the team in week one and lead them to a 3-1 week. Bron also averaged a triple double on the week. My thought is that Bron might be spending a lot of time at the point this season, and good luck to anyone who can stop him.
3 (11) 28 Bos Boston Celtics 3-1
Bos 112, Orl 105 W
Bos 91, Ind 114 L
Bos 89, Hou 113 L
Tor 120, Bos 85 L
Week one for the Celts was lead by the one and only.... Brook Lopez! oh and some dude they call KD! some smart moves by JMac prior to the season in trades and FA meant his had built a nice looking team around their star. previous seasons the Celts had been dealt some injury blows (if I remember correctly) nut if they can stay healthy this season they will remain at the top of the Rankings for the majority of the season.
4 (6) 28 OKC Oklahoma City Thunder 3-1
NO 64, OKC 106 W
Min 91, OKC 126 W
OKC 101, Orl 84 W
OKC 119, Utah 111 W
The team to beat out West in my honest opinion. The team is stacked at every position, and it's a crucial year for Ben and the Thunder after bringing in Paul George. Get an injury... that's ok just bring in someone off the bench to fill the void. a solid start in their push for a title and I expect a very successful year for the team.
5 (23) 27 Dal Dallas Mavericks 3-1
Dal 119, Hou 93 W
LAL 103, Dal 113 W
Mia 92, Dal 85 L
Sac 54, Dal 111 W
"I told you Lonzo was taking the Mavs to the playoffs....get around that Ball boy." Lavar Ball.
6 (18) 27 Mia Miami Heat 3-1
Mia 92, Dal 85 W
Cle 93, Mia 71 L
SA 97, Mia 90 L
Mem 68, Mia 84 W
Great start for a team who were suppose to be at the bottom for the entire season fighting to keep this years pick. Things clicked extremely well for the Heat in the first week of the season as they now only 25 wins away from their Win record of last season. If the chemistry and moral can stay high, anything is possible for this team, But I think the better teams will find their feet throughout the season and they may slide a bit. But it is a great sign for the league seeing teams who were down, now being very competitive.
7 (14) 27 SA San Antonio Spurs 3-1
Mil 119, SA 74 L
SA 87, Was 104 L
SA 88, Cha 108 L
SA 97, Mia 90 W
The Champs kicked off their season with only 1 loss to the young Clippers team in OT. Sitting below the Mavs in the rankings already could spell a long season for leeroy, and the great rivalry between them could be sparked once again.
8 (16) 26 Chi Chicago Bulls 3-1
LAL 91, Chi 79 L
Ind 109, Chi 98 L
Chi 73, Bkn 120 L
Chi 87, Tor 104 L
The Love Affair that Daz has with Steph and Klay is just as strong as the Love affair that I have with Dirk. Geeez... great to see him play well in week one, but way to go to drive up your value at 39, no you will never finish with the Mavs. Moving on, The Bulls have fought and fought in previous season to really make an impact in this league, and now with arguably one of the best back courts, things look positive for the Bulls and they will make things hard for anyone playing against them.
9 (12) 26 Sac Sacramento Kings 3-1
Mil 145, Sac 93 L
LAC 130, Sac 79 L
Sac 54, Dal 111 L
only one loss this week would have Klem feeling pretty good. they managed to knock off the runners up last year in the knicks, and solid games against the Hornets and the nuggets. this is still Melo's team and as long as he is healthy the Kings look set for another playoff run this season, and with a few smart moves may be able to make some noise at the end of the season.
10 (27) 25 Cha Charlotte Hornets 3-1
Phi 124, Cha 116 L
Por 76, Cha 92 W
SA 88, Cha 108 W
Cha 99, NO 67 W
The team who doesn't want to win? Rebuilds take time, and The Hornets have had plenty of it. I feel this is the season they will make a splash out east. Porzingod and Turner are the future of this franchise and they have talent built around them, very well I might add. A couple of moves for some savvy Vet help could be what's required to push this team right to the top of the East. either way its going to be a fun and interesting year to see where Digga takes this team.
11 (26) 25 GS Golden State Warriors 3-1
Mem 103, GS 118 W
GS 92, LAC 118 L
Det 101, GS 84 L
The warriors were set when they brought in Batum, until he got injured and will miss some time. But the young Warriors didn't seem fussed as they got on with business and recorded a 3-1 week. Wins against Detroit and Phoenix are the ones they need to make sure they get, and the win against the Wolves is a massive confidence booster moving forward. Wins like these can make your season, and I feel the Warriors are going to have a good one.
12 (30) 25 LAC LA Clippers 3-1
Den 94, LAC 116 W
GS 92, LAC 118 W
LAC 130, Sac 79 W
LAC 131, Bkn 122 W
This is the team that I was most looking forward to seeing this year. The time to attack was now after another successful draft day, and with a couple of great moves the team is set to pounce. Only losing to Chicago in week 1, the team also had a confidence boosting win against the reigning champs The Spurs. Once Andrew finds the best spot and style for Gordon, expect him to lead this team well as he is due for a big year.
13 (1) 25 Mil Milwaukee Bucks 3-1
Mil 145, Sac 93 W
Mil 119, SA 74 W
Mil 124, Orl 76 W
slowly climbing the power rankings will be the way of the Bucks, and once they hit the top they will remain their for the entire season. The team to beat out East for me, and they are set for another big season. Russ owns this team, wait actually I think is the greak freaks team..... on third thought KAT dominated the first week this year and is keen to step up and be a real leader moving forward to take the pressure of Russ and Giannis. are you affraid of this team?? I AM!
14 (8) 17 Det Detroit Pistons 2-2
Det 103, Pho 83 W
Det 94, Min 73 W
Det 101, GS 84 W
Baby brain hit Laddas this week (if not earlier) as the GM made sure everyone knew he had a new born in the house through his streams (desktop Mic left on during sim) I have a feeling I over head Laddas say "if you don't stop crying I WILL trade you. A mixed week for the Pistons, as Simmons started his NLL career at the point position. Getting wins against New York and washington, but going down to Minnesota and GS. When the team is up they seem to blow others out, but when they are down sometimes it doesn't look pretty. Laddas won't stand for the losses though and will make sure the improve is always gaining traction for the whole season.
15 (20) 17 NO New Orleans Pelicans 2-2
NO 64, OKC 106 L
NO 97, Phi 115 L
Cha 99, NO 67 L
Min 97, NO 107 W
A team who was probably touted to not win many games at all this season starts off with a .500 week. Handing the on fire Heat their only loss and making sure the Rivalry between him and Jesse was well and truly alive with a convincing win against Memphis. Len is making a point in a contract year with 25ppg and 12Rpg for week 1.
16 (17) 16 LAL LA Lakers 2-2
LAL 91, Chi 79 W
NY 117, LAL 108 L
LAL 103, Dal 113 L
LAL 77, Pho 87 L
This is Vucevic's team and he is rolling out some seriously good games. good wins against the Pelicans and Phoenix, but dropping games to Miami and Brooklyn. Greenmig will have this sorted out for week 2, and the master will pull together something to make matchups against them an absolute nightmare for any opposition.
17 (28) 15 Mem Memphis Grizzlies 2-2
Cle 81, Mem 100 W
Mem 103, GS 118 L
Tor 108, Mem 85 L
Mem 68, Mia 84 L
Jesse seemed very excited about hitting the .500 mark for week 1. not knowing what to do next was the big question on his mind..... just keep rolling, and the wins will keep coming!
18 (7) 13 Min Minnesota Timberwolves 2-3
Min 91, OKC 126 L
Hou 102, Min 111 W
Det 94, Min 73 L
Min 97, NO 107 L
The team starts with a 2-3 record, and then their GM walks out on them. Boogie will tear the place apart if things aren't sorted out quickly.
19 (22) 12 Por Portland Trail Blazers 2-3
Por 76, Cha 92 L
Por 88, Atl 126 L

RUDY GAY! RUDY GAY! RUDY GAY!
20 (29) 8 Tor Toronto Raptors 1-3
Den 119, Tor 122 W
Tor 120, Bos 85 W
Tor 108, Mem 85 W
Chi 87, Tor 104 W
Not the start Carl was looking for. The entire team has worked hard in week one, and they look solid in parts. Team chemistry could be low, and this will need to be worked on moving forward. there is some serious talent there and things will look bright for the Raptors once again, but it could take some time for the team to Gel.
21 (4) 7 Hou Houston Rockets 1-3
Hou 102, Min 111 L
Dal 119, Hou 93 L
Bos 89, Hou 113 W
Hou 163, Atl 153 W
IT is a massive out for the team, but the win now mentality may have been a little premature? Its awesome to see guys making moves to win, but with your own pick and Washington's pick in the up coming draft would have enticed me to sit a season without Hayward and attack next season full on. But Vitt is wise, and will make sure this works for the coming season and could make some noise again come the end of it.
22 (24) 6 Ind Indiana Pacers 1-3
Ind 116, Pho 91 W
Bos 91, Ind 114 W
Ind 109, Chi 98 W
Cle 88, Ind 116 W
The Pacers had some games in week one that they may have pencilled in to win. but with a 1-3 record the team lingers towards the bottom of the rankings. two blow outs is a little concerning for sheed, but he will fight on and sort things out as quickly as he can.
23 (2) 6 Phi Philadelphia 76ers 1-3
Phi 124, Cha 116 W
Phi 119, NY 107 W
NO 97, Phi 115 W
Kawhi...please come back!
24 (25) 5 Atl Atlanta Hawks 1-3
Atl 93, Orl 80 W
Atl 103, Bkn 125 L
Por 88, Atl 126 W
Hou 163, Atl 153 L
Another team that is rebuilding, and trying to get back to the playoffs. Their star draftee Markell Fultz is out for the start of the season which isn't ideal, but a young rookie is usually never going to be able to take their team to the next level in the first season. 1-3 is not a great start, but this team will get wins along the way that will boost moral and confidence within the group.
25 (9) 5 Bkn Brooklyn Nets 1-3
Atl 103, Bkn 125 W
Bkn 120, Utah 113 W
Chi 73, Bkn 120 W
LAC 131, Bkn 122 L
INJURIES! is this the start of the story for the Nets season? It always hurts for teams to have players missing, making life tough on and off the court. but maybe the Nets are just getting them out of the way early so they are prime and ready to attack the second half of the season ready for the playoffs.
26 (10) 4 Den Denver Nuggets 1-3
Den 94, LAC 116 L
Den 119, Tor 122 L
Was 135, Den 71 L
Wall had a very down week to start the season, but kanter had an excellent week making sure he wasn't feeling left out of the Dominating Big's discussions for week 1. If Wall is up and about then this Ball club will win more than they lose. They have some power in the starting 5, but may look to move the likes of Eric Gordon back to the bench to make sure the second unit has some powerful scoring.
27 (3) 4 NY New York Knicks 1-3
NY 117, LAL 108 W
Phi 119, NY 107 L
Was 109, NY 105 L
You're just playing with us Tim? 1-3? come on what secret weapons do you have up your sleeve for week 2 and beyond? I can't see a repeat of this week happening too often for a team only seconds away from a championship last year. A move of Harden to the point and irving to the 2 position looks like one trick that we will get to see for week 2.
28 (21) 4 Utah Utah Jazz 1-3
Cle 114, Utah 116 W
Bkn 120, Utah 113 L
Was 95, Utah 97 W
OKC 119, Utah 111 L
on paper if this team is fully healthy they look like a true contender. but on paper won't cut it. Once CP3 returns then Merencio will have some things to work with in moving forward on the season. Things will definitely start to click eventually, hopefully for the Jazz sake though it doesn't take too long to click.
29 (13) -4 Pho Phoenix Suns 0-4
Det 103, Pho 83 L
Ind 116, Pho 91 L
Por 100, Pho 83 L
LAL 77, Pho 87 W
Penny made the bold move of bringing in Gordon Hayward, so instantly makes me feel looking towards next season to really make an impact. The Suns however, still have some soild fire power in their starting five to give some trouble to teams throughout the year. injuries are going to be a major factor this season though, as if there are plenty of them it could be a long and slow year for the Suns.
30 (15) -4 Was Washington Wizards 0-4
SA 87, Was 104 W
Was 135, Den 71 W
Was 95, Utah 97 L
Was 109, NY 105 W
not a great start for Darko and his Wizards. Things are hard without the game to sort stuff out for your team, but the Wizards are building for the future anyway. Nothing having their own pick this season is a worrying sign, but it is only early and the Wizards were able to make a run to sneak into the playoff's last year, so at a guess Darko will figure it out and the Wizards will be fine.
