ROOKIE OF THE WEEK WATCH - Week 5

PLAYERTEAMWHYWHY NOTSTATS

Donovan Mitchell

PER 25.97

MVP

This cat is going to go places! His Summer League stuff was no fluke, Badwolf struck early and now we are all witness of Mitchell.

He should win because he is playing for the best team in the league and is playing within the system, and within himself, not compromising the machine. He's been given the opportunity to run the offense in week 6 which is a sign of trust.
Because his percentages are less than good and at least in NLL, he should not be taking the three point shot at all, just pas it around, Donovan. His overall numbers are not very eye-popping.

The Monk has been impressive of late with a lot of volume and stats on that Pacers offense that suddenly has a lot more shots to go around for a while. That should help with the development of the young fella. A starting job and 13 ppg is good stuff.Because his percentages are horrific! 33% and 20% from 3. Aren't you supposed to be a shooter, young man?
Also his +/- suck, but that's probably a reflection of where he plays.

Because he is shooting great percentages in his early days as a Net, and he came out firing, totally motivated by the fact he has been traded twice already without having had the chance to prove what he can do. The coaching staff in Brooklyn will look to use that to maximize his potential.Because his stint in Detroit wasn't that remarkable, and with a better sample size, that trey ball is something he should not be taking. Also he hasn't let the team to a lot of wins when given the chance to start.

Jayson Tatum

There he is again! He is officially the best player on the Memphis Grizzlies!

20 points on 40% from 3 and this dude is on fire! Jayson Tatum is a smooth athlete, very cerebral and I confess I was not a fan of his game, but he will be a contributor in this league for probably 15 years and you better get used to it.
Because his +/- is -8 in week 5 and his percentage from the field was 38%, which is not very good. Also he doesn't contibute a lot in other areas of the basketball court.

Talk about a hyped guy with some nasty potential and the guy is also on fire in week 5!

Take 16 points on 17 minutes in w5 for good measure, almost a point per minute, and the guy is turning into an explosive scorer, as expected! Great job, young fella!
It's hard to argue against the week 5 he's had, but if you want to try, talk to me about 33% from 3 and -4 +/-  but there is not much there for you.
