Team by Team: Chicago Bulls
2010-2011 Finish: 28-54

What went bad

Also known as the Season the Chicago Bulls fell apart. It seems each year an NLL GM thinks it's a good idea to tank. Well, in this edition will be tracing the disastrous season of GM Dazman and the Chicago Bulls. After bowing out to the Knicks in the first round, a handful of the team's free agents took off (Shaquille O'Neal, Kwame Brown, CJ Watson and more). Although the team retained Watson and Reggie Williams, they also convinced star Joe Johnson to stay with a ginormous deal.

The Bulls also came out swinging in the FA period. They inked Travis Outlaw, Brad Miller and Chris Duhon to lucrative deals. They also brought in vets Kurt Thomas, Etan Thomas and Brian Scalabrine. This didn't look like a team about to tank it. But many of these guys stick around. A few weeks later, Dazman shipped out Outlaw and Miller, getting Antawn Jamison, Tyrus Thomas and Antoine Wright. It didn't stop there.

In a flurry of trades, Dazman kissed his entire team farewell. Goodbye Joe Johnson, Duhon, Luol Deng (does the two-months he played here count), Hakim Warrick, Jarrett Jack, Thabo Sefolosha, Jason Richardson and Kendrick Perkins. Say hello to Kirk Hinrich, Troy Murphy, Jason Kapono and Peja Stojakovic. Yes, we can see that Dazman was stockpiling expired deals and draft picks, but the fans were calling for his head. It's as if Boyd or Javijoe crept in and took over the team.

What went worse

The Bulls finished 28-54. While this isn't Indiana bad, it's pretty darned terrible. It is said that drafting rookies and free agency never helped anyone succeed in the NLL. Dazman is about to find out the hard way.

Goats

- The Entire Team -

But this what Dazman wanted, right? An entire team of goats. Well, Roy Hibbert isn't half bad.

Looking to the future

Holy hell, where do we start? The Bulls have five players under contract to start the season, despite the fact he tried to give Hinrich away. It is rumored that Jamison won't start the season in Bulls red and white. Hibbert is a good piece and Darrell Arthur could be good, but I'm not sure he's ready to start. After that? Daz better use his 50 GM pts wisely....or absorb more big deal, one-year deals via trade.

The Bulls did haul in six rookies in the first round, four of them first-rounders. Kemba Walker will add some pop to the lineup but he can't really shoot and he's kind of small. Alec Burks may likely be the steal of the draft and give the Bulls some perimeter shooting. JaJuan Johnson will probably never be more than a bench player while Reggie Jackson may even start at PG if Daz finds a taker for Hinrich. DeAndre Liggins may actually make this squad and can add some shooting threat from the bench while no one has ever heard of Adam Hanga.

No, 2010-2011 wasn't a good time to be a Bulls fan and the next season looks like it will be as equally rough.
