NLL Insider - Homecourt means something!

by spudspace, updated on Thursday, June 08 2017, 03:09 pm EST

Wowie!  What a difference home court makes!  The Spurs put it on the Knicks in game 4 after looking like they could have been down 0-3.  Anthony Davis had a HUGE game scoring 40 points to go with his 11 rebounds and 5 assists.  The Spurs came out firing, outscoring the Knicks 40-26 in the first quarter alone to cruise their way to a 16 point victory.

SF Mo Harkless had a career game, going 8-15 and scoring 19 points.  The Spurs other than Davis had a good game, with Embiid going for 19, and Conley with the double-double.  The bench showed up too, outscoring the Knicks 33-23.

We know who did awesome for the Spurs, but who was the goat of the Knicks.  Lance Stephenson is the answer.  He was an astounding -19 in just 23 minutes.  He shot 3-10, and didn’t distribute the ball well either.

Once again, the Knicks starters played well, but couldn’t quite match the Spurs and Davis with his amazing game.  The Spurs got off 11 more shots, and destroyed the Knicks in the paint.  As noted during the game, the pace was frenetic.  Putting up over 100 shots is rare in an NLL game, and they only had 9 offensive rebounds.  I would love to see the minutes split to see average time of possession, it seemed like the Spurs were firing so quickly, the Knicks didn’t have time to set their defense.

The Series goes back to New York, and if home court prevails, the Knicks will look unbeatable there.  As noted by Wizkid, the playoffs have seen a little bit more advantage at home, which spells bad news for the Spurs.  They are no stranger to game 7 wins though, as the first two rounds went the distance.  Many expected the series to go 6-7 and it looks like that is going to be the case.  I’m predicting a Knicks victory based on home court advantage.  Good Luck to both teams!
