The Sacramento
Kings have returned home and returned to the winners list, wrestling back
momentum to win game 5 and take a 3-2 series lead over the Oklahoma City
Thunder. The Kings started strong and were never really troubled, on their way
to a 19 point win. The final score was 119-100.
The Kings
turned the table on the Thunder on the defensive end, recording 12 steals and
41 defensive rebounds. They also kept the Thunder to 44% from the field, and
kept them away from the foul line.
And on
the offensive end the Kings were very aggressive, forcing their way inside and
to the foul line with 52 points in the pain and 31 free throws attempted, of
which they made an impressive 29.
Carmelo
Anthony bullied Jimmy Butler, scoring 31 points and shooting 6-6 from the free
throw line. Boban Marjanovic also did a nice job inside, with an efficient 12
points, 11 rebounds and 4 steals. And from the bench, Gerald Green and Taj
Gibson starred with 16 and 14 points.
For the
Thunder, Nikola Mirotic got hot off the bench with 19, but the starters were
crushed. Butler only managed 18 points, as he had to use most of his energy on defence
trying to contain Carmelo.
Player of
the game goes to Anthony, for his 31 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. He
really set the aggressive tone for his teammates.
Game six heads
back to Oklahoma City, and Ben will be hoping that the trend of home teams
winning continues. However from there it gets tricky with the Kings set to host
a game seven if required. This leaves the Kings currently in the box seat in
this series, and without much to lose on the road, they may just swing for the
fences and try and end this in 6. To have a chance, the Thunder must win this
and then hope that in game seven, anything can happen.
Tune in
for game six, scheduled for Thursday morning, 5am NLL time.
