The votes are in and final, and here we announce the Players of the Week
and Rookies of the Week for Week 13!
East
POTW – Kawhi Leonard
Philly are surging in the East on an 8 game win streak, they’re back on
top of the conference and last week it was massively because of Kawhi Leonard
who claimed 40% of the 1st place votes to beat out Kevin Durant for
Player of the Week. He poured in an easy season high 28.3 points, adding 5
rebounds, 1 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting 55% from
the field, 38% from deep and 94% from the line. The 76ers haven’t featured much
in these weekly awards as they pride themselves on balanced production and
depth getting them wins over the years, but Leonard shone bright this week.

West POTW
– Carmelo Anthony
The Kings are still #2 in the West despite recent moves and a change of
conference and team fortunes has meant that Carmelo Anthony has suddenly been
shot into the spotlight as the star of his new team. Consequently, he claimed
50% of the 1st place votes for his first week with his new team to
beat Andrew Wiggins to the weekly award. He dropped 27.8 points, 6.3 rebounds,
3 assists and 0.8 steals on 47% shooting including 47% from deep and settled
straight into his new team as their #1 option, as GM Klemm envisioned.

West
ROTW – Marquese Chriss
He’s had a few weeks off from being here, but Marquese Chriss defied the
odds this week with only 33% of the 1st place votes, compared to Malcolm
Brogdan’s 50% of the 1st place votes, to win by just 1 point on the
preference voting! This is his 4th award and he averaged 11.3
points, 11 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1 steal and 1.3 blocks on 52% shooting and
1/1 from deep. The kid has got some nice upside for the rebuilding Grizz and GM
Jesse loves his kid! Congratulations Marquese Chriss on 4x ROTW!
East
ROTW – Thon Maker
Thon
has been turned loose, and he’s turned heads instantly in the process. He was
near unanimous choice this week for the award as he averaged 20.5 points, 8
rebounds, 0.5 assists, 1 steal and 0.8 blocks on 61% shooting, 50% from deep
and 89% from the line as a starter. The kid is long and lean and has handles,
and he could end up being the perfect stretch big man compliment to the other
even stretchier big man in Zinga. Congratulations Thon Maker on 2x ROTW!
