The votes are in and final, and here we announce the Players of the Week
and Rookies of the Week for Week 8!
East
POTW – DeMarcus Cousins
The Nets went 2-2 in week 8 but it wasn’t for the lack of trying of their
stud big man as Boogie went coco bananas to claim over half the 1st
place votes and take the weekly award over Steph Curry. He punished defences to
the tune of 30.8 points on 56% shooting while hauling in 13.8 rebounds, 1.8
assists, 0.8 steals and working on the defensive end with 2 blocks. He’s been
here before, and he WILL be here again this season as the Nets now look solid
inside the top 8 and will go as far as Boogie can carry them. Congratulations
Boogie Cousins on 2x POTW!
West POTW
– Harrison Barnes
The man has forced the MVP pundits to begin taking notice and is turning
heads down in Golden State, and this week might just signify his arrival?
Harrison Barnes claimed the award this week with 66% of the 1st place
votes over none other than everyone’s eye popper Anthony Davis. The Warriors
went 3-1 in the week and Barnes poured in 31.3 points on 59% shooting including
59% from deep! He added 6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1 steal and stamped himself
fully on the league. The Warriors, like the Nets above, have now moved into the
top 8 and looked reasonably solid as long as they keep the momentum moving
forward which should be aided by the return of some injured guys.
Congratulations Harrison Barnes on 2x POTW!
West
ROTW – Jaylen Brown
It was a close one this week but Jaylen Brown climbs the mountain again
with 40% of the 1st place votes to claim it over Jake Layman. This
is his 4th award of the year and he’s been somewhat of a standout in
the West this season as a rookie. The Blazers got a couple of wins this week
which was nice reward for Brown and the organisation and he put 19.5 points, 4
rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steak and 1 block, but struggled with efficiency.
Congratulations Jaylen Brown on 4x ROTW!
East
ROTW – Thon Maker
The
East rookie award was a non-event this week with Thon Maker named the unanimous
award winner. He’s earned a call up to start in week 9 on the back of averaging
15.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal on 54% shooting, including 57%
from deep in23 minutes off the bench. He’s been hovering there abouts all
season overshadowed y his high profile rookie teammate Brandon Ingram, but he’s
going to get his chance to shine this week. Congratulations Thon Maker on ROTW
for Week 8!
Congratulations to
the winners in Week 8 and may the odds be forever in your favour!
